Sonnet 5.5 is mind blowing 🤯 It built this whole 3D orchestra game for $35 at API prices. Then Opus 5.5 directed, filmed and edited the trailer for $74. Watch, then play: https://t.co/xilk7etuvR The bill (API-equivalent) 🎮 Game, Sonnet 5.5: 67M tokens (700k written), about 2 hours, about $35 🎬 Trailer, Opus 5.5: 73M tokens, about 4 hours, about $74 🧾 All in, with the fixes and direction in between: about $115 What we asked for A 30-piece orchestra on a sunset island, a one-minute original classical piece, a fishing boat whose crew listens while they fish, then a game where you are the composer. Then a trailer to show it all off. How the game was made, built on @threejs • 4,000 lines of code in one HTML file. Every violin, face and wave is generated by code • Violins are lofted from 30 plate cross-sections with spruce grain and flamed-maple colour. The harp has 47 strings. Trombone slides, horn valves and oboe keys move with the pitch • 30 players follow the score note by note, with two-bone arm IK for bows and fingers • The composer's hair is 2,700 strand cards • Sky and sea are GLSL. The sea's six waves run on the GPU and in JS, so the boat rides the swell you see • 602 notes across 19 parts, synthesised live in WebAudio with convolution reverb • 39 beams are cut from the melody. Hit them and the tempo holds, miss and it drops to 72%, and a streak lifts it to 108% • A bot played it to test the scoring How the trailer was made • 63 seconds, 1080p, 1,896 frames captured from the real game and cut on the beat • It opens on the sunset with the orchestra already playing, and the music starts on its biggest downbeat • The soundtrack is rendered on the same tempo curve as the footage, so when the player misses you hear the orchestra slow down
