Claude Code in a browser with Unix commands

a few months ago i shared https://t.co/OrjU4HZ9tv with hacker news. they took a massive dump on it. i used claude code to create a javascript/typescript environment entirely in browser that recreated common unix commands. my philosophy was - shim EVERYTHING and only implement the bare minimum to make claude code (an npm app at the time) feel like it is inside of a real unix like shell. well, it worked. And it still works. it has a file system implemented with index db. and enough unix utils that claude can operate. it can clone github repos. and now I am running claude code opus 5.5 entirely in a browser tab. And it is absolutely so cool to see it edit the page the browser harness exists inside of - in the same memory space, same vm... it feels like magic.
